Arizona Man Who Said He Could Get 3M Masks For Texas Charged

An Arizona man faces federal charges for taking millions of dollars after claiming he could produce 3M masks for Texas during the pandemic. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona says Dale Hipes of Scottsdale faces wire fraud and money laundering charges in the case. They say Hipes represented himself as an authorized distributor for 3M and got almost 17 million dollars from the victims in return for nine million masks. No masks were produced. Hipes reportedly returned most of the money before spending the rest on himself.
