Houston Company, 14 People Named In International Customs Fraud Case

Officials are identifying 14 people and a Houston company suspected of perpetrating a fraud scheme involving tires imported from China. Two local residents, 53-year-old Miranda Zhou of Missouri City and 40-year-old Bruce Liu of Sugar Land, are charged with fraud. Also charged are a California resident and five people in China. A civil complaint was also filed against six other suspects and Houston-based Winland International. Legal documents say the group avoided anti-dumping duties on tires made in China, depriving the U.S. of more than six-million-dollars in import duties over ten-years.
