Appeals Court Temporarily Stops El Paso Shutdown

The shutdown of nonessential businesses in El Paso County is paused following a ruling by the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals. The court moved to stop the shutdown that was mandated in late October by County Judge Ricardo Samaniego until a final ruling is made, which could come as soon as today. In response, Samaniego said he was "extremely disappointed" in the court's ruling. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton applauded the decision on Twitter, stating that it is important the economy is never shut down again.
