Supreme Court Sends Texas Inmate's Lawsuit Back To Lower Court

The Supreme Court is allowing a lawsuit from a Texas inmate to proceed in a lower court. The justices on Monday threw out an appeals court ruling that drew on the concept known as qualified immunity. Trent Taylor sued, saying he was subject to cruel and unusual punishment after he spent almost a week naked in a cell covered with feces and sewage. The justices who ruled in Taylor's favor criticized officials for believing it was acceptable to leave Taylor in "deplorably unsanitary conditions."
