Plan Would Reopen Texas-Mexico Border To Non-Essential Travel

There's a renewed push to lift travel restrictions at the Mexican border before the busy holiday shopping season. U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar wants to allow border cities to decide if they want bridges open. Bridges are closed to non-citizens, but that measure expires on the 21st. The Laredo Democrat's plan calls for two layers of coronavirus screening, one by Customs and Border Protection, and a second by border cities. Cuellar says Mexican nationals who come north to shop spend over 19-billion-dollars a year.
