City Council Boosts Pandemic Housing Assistance By $24M

The San Antonio city council is spending another $24 million on a pandemic-related housing assistance program. The council voted on Thursday to add additional funds to the COVID-19 Emergency Housing Assistance Program. As of Thursday, nearly $46 million had been paid out to help 16-thousand applicants pay their rent or mortgage. With up to half-a-million-dollars being spent every day, the program was expected to run out of money by next month. The council also capped benefits and tightened eligibility requirements.
