Marriott is about to lay off more than 700 of its employees at three San Antonio hotels. The layoffs will mostly affect employees at the J.W. Marriott and the Marriott Rivercenter, with fewer workers to be let go from the Marriott Riverwalk. All terminations will be in effect by October 30th. Marriott officials told the Texas Workforce Commission the pandemic is the cause of the wave of layoffs. Tourism and the convention business both took deep hits as a result of the pandemic shutdowns.
