Judge Tosses Lawsuit Trying To Change Texas Voting Procedures

A federal judge is tossing out a lawsuit that aimed to bring about drastic changes to the state's rules for in-person voting during the pandemic. The lawsuit from the NAACP, Mi Familia Vota, and two Texas voters claimed current state voting procedures place an unconstitutional burden on voters as long as the pandemic lasts. The lawsuit sought a month-long early voting period and a mask mandate at polling places, among other changes. U.S. District Judge Jason Pulliam on Monday said the requests are reasonable, but the court lacks the authority to require them.
