GOP Sues To Remove Libertarian Candidates From November Ballot

Republican organizations and candidates are suing to remove 41 Libertarian Party candidates from the November ballots. The GOP tells the Texas Supreme Court the Libertarians are ineligible to run because they failed to pay a new candidate filing fee or collect enough petition signatures to avoid the fee. The Libertarian Party argues that the GOP could have challenged the candidates in December, but waited too long to ask for a court remedy. Two weeks ago, Democrats tried to remove three Green Party candidates for the same reasons.
