TxDOT Offers HERO Service To People Having Car Trouble

The Texas Department of Transportation is now offering a new service to drivers who are having car trouble. The free "Highway Emergency Response Operator" or HERO service is now in effect. The program offers a list of services, including battery jumps, gas and water, changing flats, minor car repairs, moving disabled vehicles to safety, helping first responders at crash scenes, and providing drinking water and cell phone service to stranded drivers. HERO will be available to drivers on 239 miles of highway in the San Antonio area.
