Mayor: "We Are Experiencing An Exponential Surge In COVID-19"

The city of San Antonio is continuing to voice concerns about the spread of coronavirus cases in recent weeks.

"We are experiencing an exponential surge in COVID-19 cases in our community and the attention that we need is urgent," said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. "Please stay home when you're able. If you do need to leave your home, keep six feet of distance between others and wear a face mask and wash your hands frequently."

Metro Health reported 650 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total to 10,797 cases since the pandemic began. 881 patients are now hospitalized, which is an increase of 79 from Sunday. 274 patients are in Intensive Care, with 154 patients on ventilators.

There were no new deaths reported on Monday.

"We are working on increasing hospital capacity," said Judge Nelson Wolff.
