San Antonio Teachers' Union Says State Should Mandate PPE In Schools

The local school workers' union says the state should order school districts to require masks for students, faculty and staff this fall. The Texas Education Agency is sending millions of masks and gloves, tens of thousands of thermometers, and oceans of hand sanitizer to school districts statewide ahead of the new school year. The gear should arrive at schools in July and August, but the state agency says school districts aren't required to use them. The San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel says the lack of a state order to use the personal protective equipment is the result of politicizing the pandemic.
