San Antonio City Council Approves Emergency Housing Assistance

San Antonio's city council has given the okay today to a $25 million emergency housing assistance program, which will help those affected by the coronavirus.

Deputy City Manager Colleen Bridger says, "the needs for housing assistance in our community has drastically increased from 57 inquiries a week, pre-COVID, to 5,300 inquiries a week."

The money comes from the Affordable Housing Budget, Housing Trust Foundation, the federal CAREs Act, and money that was supposed to go to other city programs which have been canceled or delayed because of the crisis.
