Face Masks To Be Mandatory In Public Places In Bexar County

The city of San Antonio and Bexar County are enacting new face mask regulations.

If you're over the age of 10 and are in a public space within Bexar County, you are now required to wear a face mask.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg and County Judge Nelson Wolff announced an addendum to their emergency orders covering the wearing face coverings.

Officials say the mask must cover your nose and mouth when it's difficult to practice social distancing in a public place. Coverings may be masks, scarfs, bandannas or a handkerchief.

Face coverings won't be required for people who are driving, pumping gas, or exercising outdoors. Mayor Nirenberg says violations could mean a fine of up to $1 thousand.

Metro Health officials are reporting 918 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bexar County, with 37 deaths.
