Court Allows Texas To Continue Banning Abortions During Outbreak

A court ruling is giving Texas the go-ahead to continue its ban on most abortions during the COVID-19 outbreak. The state had banned all non-essential surgical procedures, including abortion, in order to free up hospital beds and equipment during the pandemic. A federal judge last week imposed a temporary restraining order on the policy, which he called unconstitutional. On Tuesday, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted the order, saying reasonable restrictions may be placed on constitutional rights during a time of crisis.
