State Jail Inmate First In Texas To Test Positive For Coronavirus

The Texas jail system is confirming the first case of coronavirus in one of its inmates. A Tuesday news release says the Texas Department of Criminal Justice is treating a 37-year-old inmate who first showed symptoms while he was in the Lychner State Jail Atascocita in Humble. He's being treated at the jail system's Galveston hospital, which is where he tested positive. Officials say he has a preexisting respiratory problem, but is in good condition. Staff and other inmates who came in contact with him are being medically restricted.
