Abbott Clears The Way For May 2nd Special Elections To Be Postponed

As a means to combat the spread of the coronavirus, local governments may postpone May 2nd city elections until November 3rd. On Wednesday, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation allowing them to do so. The state government doesn't have the authority to reschedule local elections itself. The November general election is the next uniform election date on the state's calendar. San Marcos officials have already announced on the city's website that a special election for a city council seat is being moved to November.
