Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Insurance want health insurance providers to waive certain costs over coronavirus. They asked insurers and HMOs to waive co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles for testing consistent with CDC guidance. They also want necessary out-of-network penalties, restrictions, and claim denials waived. Abbott says Texans need to have access to resources and suggested telemedicine was the best way for anyone experiencing symptoms to get help. Almost a dozen health insurers and HMOs have already made similar moves.
