Over 25-Percent Of Registered Texas Voters Cast Ballots In Primary

Election Day: Polling place

The Texas secretary of state's office reports only about a quarter of the state's registered voters cast ballots on Super Tuesday. About two-million-72-thousand votes were cast in early voting, slightly more than the two-million-13-thousand that voters cast on the day of the primary. In all, Democrats cast just over two-million-76-thousand votes, slightly edging the GOP's two-million-eight-thousand, the first time since 2008 more Democrats than Republicans voted in Texas. The four-million-plus votes represent about 25-percent of the state's 16-million registered voters.
