City will operate fireworks hotline on New Year's Eve

The San Antonio fire department is reminding residents it is illegal to set off fireworks within the city limits. The fire department will be operating a Fireworks Hotline New Year's Eve to take calls about illegal fireworks use within the city limits. The use of fireworks in the City of San Antonio is illegal and can result in a Class C Misdemeanor which can carry a fine of up to $2,000.

Officials remind residents the can see fireworks at the City of San Antonio’s Official New Year’s Eve Downtown Celebration, CELEBRATE SA! The live music event and fireworks show will take place on Alamo Street, La Villita and Hemisfair between Market and Cesar Chavez Streets. Official event hours are from 6:00 p.m. through Midnight on New Year's Eve. The event is 100% FREE to the public.
