School Resource Officer Recorded Slamming Student To The Ground Twice

A school resource officer at Vance County Middle School in North Carolina has been suspended after video footage recorded him violently slamming a student to the ground.

Surveillance video captured the Vance County sheriff's deputy walking down a hallway with a child when he picks up the young boy and throws him to the ground. The officer then lifted the child up to a standing position before letting him drop to the floor again. The officer then grabs the boy's red shirt and starts dragging him across the hallway.

"I was stunned and shocked because I have eight grandchildren, four between the ages of 8 and 13," Sheriff Curtis Brame said. "To see a child that small reminded me of one of my grandchildren."

Brame contacted the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and asked them to help with the investigation.

The child was not identified, but police said he was under 12-years-old. His mother said he suffered a bump on his head but did not require hospitalization. Authorities have not said what caused the officer to attack the young boy.
