The Texas Department of State Health Services says the first child has died of the flu this season. Health officials say the five-year-old child is from the Rio Grande region and did not receive a flu shot this year. The department says flu activity is currently at an above-average level for this point in the season. Experts say the best way to avoid the flu is to get a flu shot.
