The funeral service for fallen San Antonio firefighter Greg Garza was held today. Garza died in the line of duty last week after being hit by a vehicle while on a fire call. The services were held at Community Bible Church, where Pastor Ed Newton said Garza was a hero.
Garza's brother, Joe Garza, called his brother "a gentle giant." Garza said, "he was big and strong as an ox. The guy could block out the Sun. He could barely squeeze through a door and yet he was as warm and loving and gentle as anyone could be. Greg always had a way to find the positive. Greg had a caring heart and would always find a way to make us smile or laugh."
Greg Garza was a 17-year veteran of the San Antonio Fire Department.
