Texas Southern University Prepares For Democratic Debate

Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate In Detroit Over Two Nights

The next Democrat Party Presidential debate is set for Thursday night in Houston. Ten candidates made the cut and will take the stage at Texas Southern University for the debate hosted by ABC and Univision. Poll leader and former VP Joe Biden takes center stage and will have Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren on either side of him. They will be joined by former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, former U.S. Congressman from El Paso Beto O'Rourke, California Senator Kamala Harris, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and New York business entrepreneur and philanthropist Andrew Yang. The debate will be televised in English on ABC and in Spanish on Univision starting at 7 p.m. and will also be live streamed by numerous web providers.

The neighborhood around Texas Southern University in Houston is getting ready for the debate. Starting at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, there will be road closures in effect on Ennis, Blodgett, Cleburne, and Tierwester Streets, which form the boundaries of the TSU campus. Ten Democratic hopefuls will debate in the H&PE Arena, which will have security screening and a clear-bag policy. The arena's doors open at 4 p.m. and close at 6 p.m., followed by the debate at 7. Parking is expected to be scarce, so ride sharing is recommended.
