Supporters of mandatory sick pay disrupted today's meeting of San Antonio City Council, shouting 'What do we want? Sick pay!' as Mayor Nirenberg called the roll to begin the meeting, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The protesters also unfurled a large banner reading 'NO TRUST!' behind the Council dias.
This was the first City Council meeting since the City agreed in July to delay the implementation of the mandatory sick day law, which Council agreed on last summer, until December 1. Supporters have claimed that a delay will lead to the ordinance never being imposed.
Nirenberg gaveled the protesters to order and the meeting continued.
