Accused Killer Kills Himself Inside Bexar County Jail

An accused killer killed himself inside the Bexar County Jail overnight, the second jail inmate to die of suicide in four days, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Deputies say Enrique Perez, 25, who was held on $200,000 bond on a charge of first degree murder, was found unresponsive inside his jail cell by a cellmate who alerted the detention officer.

EMS was called to the jail, but was unable to revive Perez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Internal Affairs and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards will investigate, to make sure all regulations were followed by jail personnel.

Perez was booked into the jail on August 1. He was charged with murdering his common law wife and the mother of his three children, Mary Lou Rodriguez, claiming she was missing, and then leading officials to her body, dumped in rural Lampassas County.
