Castro & O'Rourke Take Part In Democratic Presidential Debate

Two Democratic presidential hopefuls from Texas took time during last night's debate to slam the Trump administration's immigration and economic policies. During the first Democratic debate in Miami, former San Antonio mayor Julián Castro said pictures of a dead illegal immigrant father and daughter should anger every American. They drowned trying to cross the Rio Grande into the United States. New Jersey Senator Cory Booker said the Trump immigration policies are promoting fear in communities across the U.S., not just along the border.

Former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke says the economy is not working for everyone, but favors the one percent. O'Rourke says he would support a 28-percent tax on the highest earners in America. He did not say whether he would support raising the tax rate as high as 70-percent. O'Rourke used part of his debate time to address the American people in Spanish about the issue.
