Texas Lawmakers Demand Answers During Sandra Bland Video Hearing

Legislative hearing

Texas lawmakers are demanding answers about a cellphone video shot by Sandra Bland during her 2015 arrest. County Affairs Committee chair Garnet Coleman told the Department of Public Safety today he believed they buried the footage in documents given to Bland's family. The Houston Democrat also demanded DPS Director Steve McCraw give him every single piece of evidence they have. McCraw promised to give Coleman the information. Bland was arrested during a traffic stop in Prairie View after Trooper Brian Encinia pulled her over for not using her turn signal. The video shows Encinia pull his Taser and threaten to use it on Bland, who was found dead in her cell days later. Encinia was later fired.
