Fire Badly Damages Two Homes in Leon Valley

Two homes were damaged overnight in a major fire in Leon Valley, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Firefighters were called about 11PM to a home in the 6200 block of Setting Sun, which is right behind Raymond Rimkus Park.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out of the garage of a home.

The flames quickly spread to the house, and then jumped to a home next door.

Several people in the original house and one person inside the second home got out safely.

Damage was substantial, as much as $100,000, with both homes suffering severe damage.

The Balcones Heights, Shavano Park, and Castle Hills Fire Departments, all of which have mutual aid agreements with Leon Valley, helped battle the fire, which took nearly an hour to bring under control.

The Bexar County Fire Marshal will investigate the cause.
