Carol Burnett received the inaugural Golden Globe Award named in her honor. She is the most decorated person ever in the Golden Globes television category with The Carol Burnett Show. She was the first woman to host a variety sketch show, and it ran for eleven seasons from 1967 to 1978. Burnett says she is grateful that The Carol Burnett Show ran when it did, saying it would be difficult to make such a show now.
