CIA Director Gina Haspel is set to brief a small group of senators on the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Tuesday. The move comes after senators insisted that they be briefed by the CIA directly after Haspel's absence from a briefing last week. The CIA reportedly can conclude with high confidence that the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered the killing of Khashoggi at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey. However, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary James Mattis are casting doubt on that conclusion. Sources tell NBC News that the chairs and ranking members of the Senate armed services and foreign relations committees will be briefed by Haspel.
