Man Kills Girlfriend And Her Son After Arguing When He Put On Football Game

An argument over watching football resulted in the deaths of a woman and her ten-year-old son. Tampa Bay police said that Tyrone Terell Johnson shot and killed his live-in girlfriend and her son after an altercation that started when Johnson changed the channel on the television so that he could watch football. This angered his girlfriend, and the two started shouting at each other.

Johnson told police that he threatened to leave and went to the master bedroom to start packing up his belongings. According to the police report, which was obtained by Fox13, Johnson claimed that while he was in the bedroom, his girlfriend continued to "verbally berate him" and at one point "pushed him off of his 'knee roller.'"

Johnson said that during their argument, the ten-year-old boy entered the room and accused Johnson of hitting his mother. Johnson shoved the boy away and proceeded to grab a handgun and shoot his girlfriend. When the young boy re-entered the room, Johnson shot him.

Investigators found evidence of gunshots and blood in the child's room, which contradicted what Johnson told the police. Officials said that there was a history of domestic violence at the household, but pointed out that Johnson was not involved in the previous reports.

Johnson remains in jail and is facing charges of murder and aggravated child abuse.
