Joyride in Stolen Ambulance Ends Badly on the Northwest Side

A suspect is in custody after stealing a San Antonio Fire Department ambulance while paramedics were answering a call, and proceeding to crash it into several vehicles, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Officials say the ambulance was stolen on Goliad Rd, on the southeast side.  Police tracked the thief to the 10/410 interchange, where he proceeded to smash into at least two card before being boxed in by a police car.

Officers had to shut down the intersection, one of the busiest in the city, at the heart of the afternoon rush hour.

Nobody was seriously  hurt in the escapade.
