Ohio State University head football coach Urban Meyer is suspended for three games. University trustees met to determine whether to punish Meyer for mishandling allegations that a former assistant coach was abusing his wife. Investigators found that Meyer knew of the allegations dating back to 2015 and didn't report it as he should have.
At a press conference, Meyer remarked that he's fully aware he's ultimately responsible for a situation that has hurt the Ohio State institution. He said he followed his heart, and not his head, and gave former assistant coach Zach Smith every benefit of the doubt. He said the suspensions are tough, but he accepts them.
