Fire Destroys Home in Upscale North Side Neighborhood

A major fire overnight destroyed a home in one of the most upscale neighborhoods in metro San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Firefighters from Olmos Park and Alamo Heights responded to the fire in the 100 block of Park Hill.  That is just north of Hildebrand, across from Trinity University.

The large home was already engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived, but despite battling the fire for several hours, the home was declared a total loss.

No dollar damage estimate was available, but the home alone is valued by the Bexar Appraisal District at $870,000 so when the furniture and other household items are figured in, the total damage will certainly surpass $1 million.

NO cause has been determined, but a barbeque pit in the back yard is being examined as a possible cause.

Nobody was hurt.
