Wounded Man at Downtown Hospital Linked to Shooting on East Side

Police were scrambling early today trying to piece together a shooting on the city's east side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police were called to the 800 block of North New Braunfels, near Hays Street, about 4AM on a report of gunfire.

They were told that a man got out of a vehicle that looked like a Yellow Cab and started shooting wildly at a corner store.

Officers found no shell casings at the scene, but they did find spent slugs in the side of the building.

Then a man was dumped off at Children's Hospital of San Antonio on Santa Rosa Street downtown with a bullet in his side.  The victim, in his twenties, was transferred to SAMMC where he was reported in critical condition and in surgery.

Police think the victim was shot at the east side location, and they are also looking for the possibility of more victims.

The gunman and the vehicle that witnesses described as looking like a taxi remain on the loose.
