Study: Fair Oaks Ranch is the Fourth Safest Community in Texas

If you live in Fair Oaks Ranch, go ahead and leave your front door unlocked, because the northwest side suburb has been rated as the fourth safest town in Texas, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The web site HomeSnacks.com crunched both violent crime and property crime numbers to determine the fifteen safest cities in the state, and Fair Oaks Ranch is the only one in the San Antonio area.

Fair Oaks Ranch is up from the eighth safest city in Texas in 2017.

HomeSnacks says it only ranked places of over 5,000, which means Fair Oaks Ranch barely made the cut, with a population of 7700.

Fair Oaks Ranch ranked in the ten safest cities in the state in both property and violent crime, according to FBI uniform crime reports.

The safest town in Texas is the west Texas town of Kermit, followed by two north Dallas suburbus, Colleyville and Fairview.  The fifth safest is Fulshear, in Ft. Bend County near Houston.

The most dangerous community in Texas?  That would be Bellmead, north of Waco.

HomeSnacks also ranked Fair Oaks Ranch as the fourth wealthiest community in Texas, with a median household income of about $125,000.

Metro San Antonio is well ranked in this category.  Terrell Hills is ranked as the single wealthiest town in Texas, followed by the Houston suburb of Bellaire and Trophy Club, in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.

Helotes ranks number seven on the list of the richest communities in Texas.  Selma ranks 23rd.

The poorest towns in Texas are generally in the Rio Grande Valley, with Elsa listed as the poorest of all.
