Music to be Heard At San Antonio City Council Meetings

San Antonio City Council meetings are getting musical, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

In addition to starting the regular Thursday City Council meetings with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, Mayor Nirenberg says they will also begin with music, performed by local musicians who have submitted original songs.

“San Antonio’s music scene is full of world-class talent in all genres of music,” Nirenberg said. “This program provides an opportunity for all citizens to hear the incredible music that their fellow residents create, and to continue San Antonio’s dedication to being a music-friendly community.”

All types of music will be invited to submit applications to perform before City Council meetings.  The application is on the 'Get Plugged In' page of the city's Music Commission web page.

Musicians will be invited to perform at regular City Council meetings on Thursdays, as well as at Council's regular Wednesday afternoon work sessions, known as 'B-Sessions.'
