Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Marry

Royal Wedding

The eyes of the world watched on as the long-awaited royal wedding took place today.  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.  They exchanged vows at St. George's Chapel.  The 36-year-old  Los Angeles-born actress wore a flowing white Givenchy gown.  Thirty-three-year-old Prince Harry and his best man, his brother Prince William, dawned their military uniforms.

Markle was walked down the aisle  by Harry's father, Prince Charles, as her own father was unable to  attend due to health issues.  Her mother, however, was on hand for the  big day.  Harry could be seen wiping away tears as a special message was  read during the ceremony by his late mother's sister Lady Jane  Fellowes.  After the ceremony, the couple rode through the streets of Windsor in a horse-drawn carriage as crowds cheered them on.

The couple announced their  engagement late last year and their wedding today, the second for Markle, makes her just the second American and the first person of mixed race heritage to marry into the British royal family.  They will be  living at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

From now on,  the couple will be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
