Devastating news in San Antonio Wednesday night reminded Spurs fans and NBA fans alike that there’s so much more to life than basketball. A sentiment we’ve heard Spurs head coach, Gregg Popovich reiterate time and time again.
Popovich has never been one to reveal much to the media, let alone to speak about his family or personal life. There is so little out there in articles or archives about Gregg Popovich’s late wife, Erin. But judging by the legacy and culture he has built in San Antonio, we can all imagine how extraordinary she was.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Popovich met Erin in the 1970s while he was an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy from 1973 to 1979.
In these rare few seconds that Coach Pop spoke about Erin in front of cameras, he reveals just how much she impacted not only his life but the Spurs franchise.
