Self-Described 'Human Rights Activist' Sentenced for Child Porn

A self described 'human rights activist' who championed the campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein in the 2016 election will have to sit the next three Presidential elections out because he was sentenced to 12 years today on child porn charges, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Paul Martinez, who is a waiter at a local restaurant, pleaded guilty last October to being part of thirty different groups that downloaded and exchanged child pornography by using 'dark web' tools to access the materials anonymously.

"He may think he is a human rights activist, but his behavior shows otherwise," Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson said.

Martinez' attorney, Mario Trevino, claimed his client was a 'looker, not a predator,' and did not create any of the child porn material.

U.S. District Judge David Ezra sentenced Martinez to 12 years behind bars as part of a plea bargain.
