A man is clinging to life after he was shot when he answered a knock at the door of his west side apartment, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say a man knocked on the door at the Westward Plaza Apartments near Highway 90 and Southwest Military about 12:30 this morning.
When a man in his twenties answered, he was confronted by three armed, masked men. Police say they didn't say a word, they just opened fire on the man, hitting him multiple times.
He was rushed to the hospital with no vital signs with bullets in his chest and his side. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The gunmen ran away and remain at large.
Police have no motive, but officers say this was 'clearly not a random attack.'
