Two Die in Early Morning Car Wrecks

Two people were killed early Sunday in separate car wrecks on opposite sides of San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say a man was driving too fast down the 2800 block of Roosevelt on the  south side when his car veered into the oncoming lane and collided head on with a vehicle.

The car then rolled over, crushing the driver.  EMS worked to free him from the wreckage, but he was pronounced  dead at the scene.

Several people in the oncoming car were rushed to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

At about the same time, 2AM, a woman was driving southbound on Harry Wurzbach, on the north side, missed the turn onto Eisenhauer Rd.

She slammed into a utility pole and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim has been identified as Doris Dimas Windom, 34.

Four other people were in the SUV and they are hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.

The survivors told police they had just left a bar.
