North Side Home Invasion Murder was Bungled Dope Deal

Sheriffs detectives say the brutal murder of a man in a home near the TPC Resort on the far north side earlier this week stemmed from a bungled drug deal, and a suspect is in custody, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Joseph Hernandez, 19, is charged with capital murder and faces spending the rest of his life in prison.

Detectives say Hernandez knocked at the door of a home on Invitation Oak late Tuesday evening and started shooting at everything that moved.

Jose Cintron, 54, was killed and Michael Ibarra, 22, was critically wounded.

Hernandez was arrested Friday  night at a home in the Churchill Estates neighborhood.

Detectives had told 1200 WOAI news on the scene that the shooting was not a random crime.
