City, County, JBSA Offices Closed Along With Schools

In addition to the closing of almost every public and private school in metro San Antonio, the  'arctic blast' of cold air has also forced the closing of The City of San Antio, Bexar County, and Joint Base San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

JBSA reported in a statement that 'non emergency civilian personnel are authorized to be excused from duty on 16 Jan 2018.'

The closing of city and county offices, also means the closing of all of those operations, including city libraries.

The real mess will be garbage collection, with was cancelled yesterday too, due to the MLK Day holiday.

The City says this is how it will work:

Monday collection moves to Wednesday·         

Tuesday and Wednesday collection moves to Thursday·        

 Thursday collection moves to Friday·       

  Friday collection moves to Saturday

CPS Energy says it is prepared for the possibility that freezing rain on power lines may lead to power outages.

TxDOT says road surfaces have been deiced, but bridges and overpasses may still ice over with the expected icy precipitation.  So far, all roads and icy surface streets are open.
