San Antonio Tech CEO Among Forbes '30 Under 30' Future Business Leaders

A San Antonio tech start-up CEO has become the first San Antonian ever to be named to Forbes magazine's annual list of the '30 Under 30' rising stars in business list, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Alberto Altamirano is the co founder of a local firm called Cityflag.

"Alberto exemplifies the San Antonio that the world is beginning to know, entrepreneurial, innovative, and pioneering new community-focused tech industries," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said.  "He is among the vanguard of young Latino executives that is changing the way our cities and businesses engage their citizens."

Cityflag is an interesting company.  It is an app that allows people to report community problems like graffiti, potholes, and burned-out street lights, kind of a social network for 3-1-1.  And, it also turns it into a game, providing incentives and rewards to engage citizens with their community and therefore 'creating a more informed and committed active citizen.'

One of the major investors in Cityflag is former Mayor and HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros.

"Alberto's unyielding passion and his commitment to the way he approaches his job has been part of what gives government partners the confidence to make the transition to mobile digital services," said local entreupreneur Felix Ortiz III, who nominated Altamirano for the Forbes list.  "Being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 is reflective of his dedication to creating a successful business and solving a problem people care about."
