2018 Fiesta Poster Honors 300 Years of Tradition

It may be early November, but its not too early to think about Fiesta.

News Radio 1200 WOAI reports the 2018 Fiesta poster has been unveiled. The design, by local artist Suzan Browning, features a Mexican folk art 'Papel Picado' design, featuring the Alamo and a dove.

"They have the meaning of hope, so I just just thought it would be the hope for the future of the city, that we will be a strong, growing, prosperous city," she said.

Suzan says she had always wanted to design the official Fiesta poster, and she says when her daughter, who works at Artpace, saw the information about the poster design contest, she contacted her mom, who put pen to paper.

The 2018 Fiesta will be significant, because it will immediately precede the city's 300th anniversary

.The anniversary celebrations will begin in May, right after Fiesta ends.
