Officer Involved Shooting, Suspect Critical, Officer Okay

A San Antonio Police Officer shot and wounded an apparently suicidal man inside a west side house late Thursday afternoon on the city's southwest side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police Chief Bill McManus says officers were called to Quintana and Briggs, south of Southwest Military Dr., on a report of a man trying to douse himself with gasoline.

Officers chased the man trough the small house, and when they cornered him in a bedroom, McManus said he pulled a knife and lunged at officers.

One tried to taze the man but it didnt stop him, so officers fired.

The suspect was shot multiple times and was in surgery at the hospital.. none of the officers was hurt.

McManus said officers had been called to the house multiple times in the past several months.
