Police Probe Early Morning Shootings on West and East Sides

A man who was opening his auto storage business on the city's west side early today was shot as he opened the front gate, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police got a call to Growden Road, which is north of Lackland AFB, about 3AM.  The victim, a 50 year old man, told police he had just arrived for the morning when he was shot, apparently by somebody he knows.

Police helicopters scoured the area, and officers were searching for a gunman in a nearby field.It was the second shooting of the morning.

About three hours earlier, a police officer  patrolling on the east side heard gunshots.

He was flagged down at the intersection of Crockett and New Braunfels, where he found a man laying in the middle of the street, bleeding from several gunshot wounds.He had been shot multiple times.  He was rushed to the hosptial in critical condition

.Like many victims of east side violence, the victim, a man in his twenties, refused to tell detectives anything.
