Alleged 'Medical Center Rapist' Indicted on Top Count Felony

The teenager who police say terrorized women in the Medical Center area for two years with a string of violent rapes that began when he was 16 has been indicted on charges that could land him in prison for the rest of his life, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Jamail Haris, 18, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, a top count felony, as well as Aggravated Robbery.Police say Harris would stalk women as they pulled into parking lots at Medical Center area apartment buildings, and then follow them to their doors.

After the women had unlocked the doors, Harris would force his way in after them and sexually assault the victim at knife or gunpoint.

Occasionally, police say Harris would knock on women’s doors and force his way in when they would answer.

Harris was arrested in June after detectives were able to get DNA from a water bottle Harris used and matched it to DNA left at the scene of the sexual assaults.
